Intended use
The fan is used for air extraction or ventilation of rooms used for commercial purposes (dye shops, battery rooms, commercial premises, production facilities, etc.) with dangerous, explosive atmospheres in accordance with 1999/92/EC, articles 2, (4), (5).
The unit fulfils the safety requirements of Directive 2014/34/EU for units and protective systems in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Fan speed control is permitted by means of a frequency converter.
The DRD ../.-H Ex, DRD ../.-V Ex, ERD ../.-H Ex, ERD ../.-V Ex units are classified in group II, category 2G for gas atmospheres, fulfil the type of ignition protection “d”/“c” and are suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres in zones 1 and 2. The suitability can be found on the rating plate. For outdoor use, the units must be protected from exposure to the elements.
The motor housing and the terminal box are designed using type “d” ignition protection, pressure-proof housing. This means that the housing may contain parts that can ignite an explosive atmosphere. In the event of a possible explosion of an explosive mixture inside the housing, the housing withstands its pressure and prevents the transmission of the explosion to the explosive atmosphere surrounding the housing.
For this purpose, the points where corresponding surfaces of two parts of the housing or the connection of housings come together are designed as a gap or passage which prevent the transmission of the ignition.
