Installation, electrical connection

Installation instructions

Risk of electric shock

  1. Observe the safety rules of electrical engineering. Before taking off covers and before installing the electrics, shut down all supply circuits, switch off mains fuse, check that no voltage is present, secure against being accidentally switched back on and position a visible warning sign.
  2. Observe the applicable regulations for electrical installations, e.g., EN 50110-1 and EN 60079-14, in Germany in particular VDE 0100 with the corresponding parts → in case of non-observance danger due to electric shock, fire or short circuit.
  3. Do not switch on the unit until it is completely assembled. Do not commission a damaged unit. Prevent from being switched back on until fully repaired.
  4. Only connect the PTC thermistor triggering system according to the circuit diagram/wiring diagram. A fixed electrical installation is mandatory. Note the voltage and frequency stated on the rating plate.
  5. Perform a function test after completing maintenance and repair work.
  6. The degree of protection stated on the rating plate is only guaranteed if installation is undertaken correctly and if the connection cable is correctly guided into the housing.
  7. The housing cover must be properly fitted so that the surrounding seal is tight against the lower part of housing all the way around.

Installation

  1. Open the housing by loosening the two locking screws on the cover.
  2. Mount the two supplied cable glands (M 20 x 1.5) at the points provided on the lower part of the housing (Fig. 1).
  3. Connect the mains and the motor in compliance with the connection diagram (Fig. 2). The circuit diagram can also be found on the inside of the housing cover.
  4. Use a common sheathed cable for motor voltage and PTC thermistor terminal.
  5. The PTC thermistor triggering system may only be operated with the cover fitted and with the cable glands installed.
