Electrical connection
WARNING — Risk of electric shock
- Observe the safety rules of electrical engineering. Before taking off covers and before installing the electrics, shut down all supply circuits, switch off mains fuse, check that no voltage is present, secure against being accidentally switched back on and position a visible warning sign.
- Observe the applicable regulations for electrical installations, e.g. DIN EN 50110-1 and DIN EN 60204-1, in Germany in particular VDE 0100 with the corresponding parts → In case of non-observance danger due to electric shock, fire or short circuit.
- Do not switch on the fan until it is completely installed. Do not commission a damaged unit. Prevent from being switched back on until fully repaired.
- Only connect the fan according to the circuit diagram/wiring plan. A fixed electrical installation is mandatory. Note the voltage and frequency stated on the rating plate. Use a mains isolation device with contact openings of at least 3 mm at each pole. Avoid contact with components (damage due to static charge).
- Use cables of type NYM-O or NYM-J with 3 x 1.5 mm², 5 x 1.5 mm² or 7 x 1.5 mm² suitable for the unit type. For permissible cable types, see chapter Technical data of the installation and operating instructions or on the Internet at maico-ventilatoren.com.
- Perform a function test after completing maintenance and repair work.
- EZD/DZD: Be sure to fit a repair switch at the installation site so that all poles of the unit can be disconnected from the mains on site during cleaning, maintenance or repair work. It must be possible to secure the repair switch against being switched on again.
- The degree of protection specified on the rating plate is only valid if the unit is installed as intended, in a horizontal installation position and if the connection cable is properly guided into the terminal box.
EZR/DZR, EZQ/DZQ and EZS/DZS: Degree of protection IP 54/IP 55 only with horizontal installation position or, in the case of vertical installation, with downward air flow direction.
- The terminal box cover must be properly fitted so that the surrounding seal is tight against the terminal box all the way around.
- With protection class I, connect the PE conductor and check the connection.
- Check protective-conductor continuity on housing.
- Proceed with caution in the event of a malfunction. The fan may also be energized when at a standstill and may be switched on automatically by sensors (time delay, humidity etc.) or by the thermal switch in the motor winding. Maintenance and fault finding only permissible when carried out by qualified electricians.
