Electrical connection
Danger due to electric shock
- Observe the safety rules of electrical engineering. Before taking off covers and before installing the electrics, shut down all supply circuits, switch off mains fuse, check that no voltage is present, secure against being accidentally switched back on and position a visible warning sign.
- Observe the applicable regulations for electrical installations, e.g., DIN EN 50110-1 and DIN EN 60204-1, in Germany in particular VDE 0100 with the corresponding parts → in case of non-observance, danger of electric shock, fire or short circuit.
- Only connect the fan according to the circuit diagram/wiring plan. A fixed electrical installation is mandatory. Note the voltage and frequency stated on the rating plate. Use a mains isolation device with contact openings of at least 3 mm at each pole. Avoid contact with components (damage due to static charge).
- Use cables of type NYM-O or NYM-J, with 3 x 1.5 mm² or 5 x 1.5 mm², suitable for the unit type. For permissible cable types, see chapter Technical data of the installation and operating instructions or www.maico-ventilatoren.com.
- The degree of protection stated on the rating plate is only guaranteed if the unit is installed as intended and the connection cable is correctly guided through the cable grommet. Seal the grommet and cable additionally if necessary.
- With protection class I, connect the PE conductor and check the connection.
- Perform a function test after completing installation, maintenance and repair work.
- Proceed with caution in the event of a malfunction. The fan may also be energized when at a standstill and may be switched on automatically by sensors (time delay, humidity etc.) or by the thermal switch in the motor winding. Maintenance and fault finding only permissible when carried out by qualified electricians.
DANGER due to short circuit/fire
Narrow terminal compartment! Short circuit and fire hazard if moisture penetrates. If the cable grommet is inserted incorrectly, the sheathed cable is too long or the cables in the terminal compartment are too long, the electronics cover cannot be fitted flat and tight.
Guide the cable sheathing into the terminal compartment as little as possible so that it is sealed by the grommet. Only use single cable cores of the permitted length in the terminal compartment. The grommet must be fitted firmly and tightly in the housing. If necessary, additionally seal the grommet.
A flat installation position is prescribed for the electronics cover, not curved! The surrounding seal of the electronics cover must fit tightly against the housing all around.
For duct fans with cap/O-ring, ensure the same tightness.
