Connection information for electrics

  • Make sure that the details on the rating plate match the fan's connection values.
  • Install appropriate overload protection (PTC thermistor triggering system) → Overload protection chapter and Maico’s range of accessories at www.maico-ventilatoren.com.
  • Only connect fan in terminal box according to circuit diagram.
  • Observe tightening torques for the terminal box’s screw connections.
  • The fan must be correctly earthed to an earthing system in accordance with IEC 60364-5-54.
  • Motors <4 kW with full voltage, motors >4 kW with star/delta starter.
  • A star/delta switch, provided by the customer, must be installed for fans with a power consumption >4 kW in order to restrict the starting current. If desired, use a frequency converter or soft starter.
  • For fans controlled using frequency converters, use PTC thermistors to protect the motor from excessive motor temperatures. Running with frequency converters may result in higher vibrations and more noise.
  • When using thermal protection devices, take appropriate measures to prevent the fan from starting unexpectedly. Use separate cables to connect heaters for unit standstill and do not supply them with voltage when the motor is running. Observe the motor’s connection diagram, which you will find in the terminal box, at all times.
  • Install the command equipment needed for starting, stopping, emergency stops or resetting after an emergency stop in compliance with the relevant standards (EN 60204-1, EN 14118, EN 14119, EN 14120).
