Nowadays, the building envelope of structures is constructed very air-tight. That means that a natural exchange of air through joints and cracks no longer takes place. To keep the CO2 pollution in the rooms low despite that, a controlled ventilation ensures a comfortable and healthy indoor climate.

If, for example, two people are in a room of 40 m² with closed windows, the CO2 concentration rises to an unhealthy level of over 1,500 ppm. This results in fatigue, difficulty concentrating and headaches. Room humidity, that is too high, also makes it easy for mould to form and for mite populations to settle.

Excessive airing leads to significant energy losses.
