A ventilation concept as a basis for making decisions regarding new buildings and larger modernisation measures

DIN 1946-6 stipulates that a ventilation concept be drawn up when planning and constructing a new building or making a significant change to an existing building (in terms of ventilation). Such a concept comprises two parts: examining the need for ventilation measures, as well as selecting and determining a suitable ventilation system if necessary.

The preparation of the required ventilation concept is the responsibility of specialists who have sufficient knowledge on the need for ventilation and of ventilation systems.

When drawing up this concept, they take into account, among other things, humidity protection as a fundamental criterion. In this context, DIN 1946-6 requires the minimum air exchange, to continuously ensure humidity protection, without the occupants needing to take action: that is to say, solely through technical measures.
